Lorraine Gill Galleries - The Outback Series
Salt Pan AustraliaSometimes in the outback the horizon is barely visible; the earth and the sky seem to merge and quite often in the heat and the vastness, the salt panís seem to take up a reflection of the rhythms of the sky itself they are great meandering patterns of white against the pinks and the oranges and the only difference at times that one can tell between the earth and the sky is a vague mountain range that will hover in a type of violet blue shape.
There is usually at some stage some type of left ruin of a building where some hero has tried to survive in this vast wilderness which only adds to the poignancy of the vastness of the Australian outback. The bird itself is the only living thing that can be seen quite often when you are travelling through a desert let wilderness.
