Lorraine Gill Galleries - The Hughenden Valley Series

After arriving back in England in 1982 the Brixton race riots had occurred previously and the Clapham Road Studio was not a place to be.

It was very strange to come out of the Australian desert after 2 and a half years into a very material world.

My move into a then small country town of mortgages and house improvements even stranger.

I found a disused school space in the Hughenden Valley to house the paintings and etchings and began to give visual voice to my understanding of the experiences living with Aboriginal people in the great red heart of Australia.
